Taking the road less traveled

I just love this quote!  I am still trying to play catch up to my weekly journal layouts for the Documented Life 2015 project.  I am still back in July, can you believe it?  I am determined though to catch up and finish with the rest of my artist friends on DLP2015.  I really had fun painting this.  Of course, anytime I have a paint brush, pencil, or pen in my hands I am in "my happy, peaceful place".  Hope you all have a place like that.  Have a great day!

A little medicine for your soul

"A tranquil heart is life to the body, but jealousy is rottenness to the bones." Proverbs 14:30

I don't know about you but I definitely need to practice being content with what I have.  Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with what God has blessed me with.  But every once in a while jealousy rears its ugly head.  I just need to remember that God gives me everything I need and that things do happen in Gods time not my time.

Have a blessed day!

Sketching is Fun

I am trying to perfect my drawing skills when it comes to faces.  Yesterday I had a few minutes so I sat down, opened up my Beautiful Faces book by Jane Davenport and got to work.  I just love the way she draws faces!  For a quick job, I didn't think I did too bad.

Need 24 More Hours!

If you had twenty four more hours in a day what would you do with it?  I would definitely use a large part of it making art.  Working full-time, church involvement, family time and other things all squeeze a little bit of me in different directions.  I think they are super important in my life and I have no regrets on the time I spend doing them, however, I would love just a smidgen of more time for my art.

I am behind on my documented life project by a couple of weeks and am trying to catch up to no avail.  So, this journal prompt sure fits my life.

Thanks for looking and remember, always make time for the important things in your life!

The Eyes Have It!

I finally finished my ATC swap about eyes!  Some of the people I am trading with drew their eyes or painted them.  I am not quite comfortable enough with my drawing and painting skills to do that.  I decided to use a transfer method to transfer a laser printable I acquired from the web.  There is such a plethora of free stuff out there.  I really appreciate that people are so giving.

I did have fun doing these girls.  One of them contains microbeads on some sticky strip.  She is so cool!  The other girl started off with some papers that I printed from my Gelli Plate.  She kind of looks like an exotic dancer.  Which is your favorite?

Thanks for looking and I wish you a creative weekend!

A Little Art Therapy

I work with computers all day and some days are stressful.  When I get home I like to find a little time to sneak in some art.  It doesn't always happen but when it does I find all my worries and stresses float away.  This is what I did last night.  I used a stamp for the girl and paper piece her dress with a paper I had previously painted with my Gelli plate.  I used sprays, stencils and paints on my background and on the girls body.

Thanks for looking.
